FRANCE'S GREAT ROMANTIC WRITERS:
The Romantic period in France is dominated by the towering figures of Lamartine, Victor Hugo, Vigny, Musset, following a trend initiated by jean-Jacques Rousseau and transmitted via Mme de Staël and Chateaubriand. We will study the lives of these illustrious literati, their masterpieces and sources of inspiration. The on-site part of the course will take us to the places they frequented, inhabited and immortalized in their works.
