THE CREOLE CULTURE:

Through the example of the enchanting island of Martinique, the French overseas department in the West Indies, we will study the area's turbulent history (from pre-Colombian period through the colonial period to the present) and the Creole culture (traditions, language, food, costumes, music and dance). In the course of our visits, we will linger on blissful beaches, wander through luxuriant sugar-cane and banana groves and hike up to the active volcano Montagne Pelée amidst of exotic flora and fauna.
