The term langue d’oc –literally the “language of yes”– identifies one of France’s most historic regions, extending from Toulouse to the Mediterranean. We’ll gain insights into France today as we examine fascinating aspects of religious history, art, transport and the environment. Based in the dynamic Midi-Pyrénees and Languedoc-Roussillon, we’ll explore the interweaving of Catholicism, the “heretical” Cathars and Protestantism ; the artists Toulouse-Lautrec, Ingres and Goya ; and the world-renowned Canal du Midi.
